Knock Knock Nono 2025
I created a series of conceptual looks to reflect the core aesthetic and positioning of my brand. The designs explore the tension between cuteness and strangeness — kind of a sweet but rebellious girl vibe that feels true to the brand’s spirit. The collection includes five outfits ; some were made from vintage pieces I customized, and some were original designs that I produced together with a factory. Some of the props and accessories were handmade by me too. I wanted the final result to feel personal and imaginative—something that leaves a strong impression and tells a clear story about the brand.

Personal PortfolioThe Dollhouse · Knock Knock Nono 2024SS 2024 Fashion design, Creative Director, Prop design and making, model
The theme of this series is Doll House, inspired by Jan Švankmajer’s surreal take on Alice in Wonderland. I independently completed all designs and collaborated with a factory for production. From fabric sourcing to garment detailing and pattern adjustments, every step was handled by myself. The shooting concept and props were developed around a retro American aesthetic, and I handcrafted the props to match the visual direction. This project also includes my first bag design experiment.

This series was inspired by the wardrobe of antique dolls. I used oversized silhouettes to create a shrunken-body illusion, combined with classic doll-like elements such as lace, ruffles, and puff sleeves. I was in charge of design and alterations, fabric selection, creative direction for the shoot, and model styling.

Personal PortfolioAngel Puppy Backpack · Knock Knock Nono 2023FW Designer, Creative Director, Prop design, model, Visual Design
I designed this toy backpack made of soft fabric, shaped like an angel puppy. I created a story around the angel puppy and used a comic-style visual language to tell it. The puppy is imagined as a childhood companion—always staying by your side. I designed the backpack myself and worked with a toy factory to produce it. I also directed the theme, styling, and comic-inspired visual effects for the photoshoot.

Personal PortfolioChinese Zodiac · Pig 2023 Creative Director, Prop design and making, Styling, model
I was invited by a friend to join a creative shoot themed around the Chinese zodiac signs, with a focus on image reconstruction. Our aim was to break traditional stereotypes and reinterpret the 12 signs through a new visual language. For this piece, I reimagined the pig—not as a symbol of passivity or experimentation—but as a futuristic biologist in a dystopian, cyberpunk-inspired world. Pigs are often overlooked or used in biological testing, and I wanted to challenge that narrative through styling and concept. I worked as the creative director and stylist for this shoot, and also designed and handcrafted a leather collar as part of the look. It was my first time working with leather, and the process gave me new skills I’m excited to apply in future designs.

Personal PortfolioMood Study: The Flowers of Evil 2023 Creative Director, Styling, model
This shoot was inspired by the anime The Flowers of Evil. We used an old DV camera to recreate the raw, grainy feel of early Japanese TV dramas. The styling and atmosphere were carefully designed to reflect the emotional tension, awkwardness, and quiet rebellion seen in coming-of-age narratives.

Personal PortfolioKnitwear Technique Study 2022 Knitter
I have learned basic knitting techniques using a knitting machine and can independently complete simple top designs and production. I’m familiar with both three-dimensional and printed knitting, which will support my future work in fashion design. I’m also exploring how to combine knitting with other fabrics to create more unique and innovative pieces.

Personal PortfolioAbout Yurou / 关于我 Hi, I’m Yurou Wang, a graduate of LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, majoring in Creative Direction for Fashion. I love transforming ideas into real, tangible pieces — the process helps me understand materials, structure, and details on a deeper level. While studying, I founded **Knock Knock Nono**, a fashion brand that stands for saying “no” to being defined. It encourages girls to embrace what they love — at any age. To me, cuteness isn’t weakness — it’s strength and attitude. The brand blends sweetness with rebellion and a touch of the surreal — oversized silhouettes, unconventional materials, and experimental techniques. I oversee every aspect of the brand — from visual direction and design to production and marketing. During breaks, I go to fabric markets myself and communicate directly with factories — it’s far more challenging (and rewarding) than I expected. I’m a visual thinker — I enjoy photography, creative direction, and modeling for friends. Beyond fashion, I explore new crafts and skills like knitting, leatherwork, macramé, toy making, pole dancing, and fencing. As a perfectionist, I’ve often been hard on myself. But I’m learning to accept imperfection, face challenges with solutions, not stress. Through my work, I hope you get to know me a little better. Thanks for visiting.
